Dr Surya Tipirneni

Dr. Surya Tipirneni is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with over two decades of clinical practice in both public and private sectors. He currently serves as the Chair of Psychiatry and Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Northpark Private Hospital, where he has been practising since 2004.

Dr. Tipirneni specialises in the assessment and management of complex psychiatric presentations, including mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, addictions, and adult ADHD with comorbidities. He has extensive expertise in consultation-liaison psychiatry and medico-legal assessments, including work with WorkCover, TAC, DVA, Comcare, and personal injury cases. He has also provided expert witness testimony in legal proceedings.

He is a GEPIC and SIRA-certified Independent Medical Examiner (IME) and has held leadership roles including Chair of Psychiatry (2022–ongoing) and member of the Medical Advisory Committee for Psychiatry since 2018.

Prior to his current roles, Dr. Tipirneni served as Senior Psychiatrist and Director of Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Northern AMHS, North Western Mental Health (2002–2013)
