Assoc Prof Chris Morrey is a well-regarded and qualified Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon experienced in all aspects of general orthopaedics, with special interest in primary and revision joint replacement, sports injuries, pelvic and acetabular surgery, acute trauma, and spinal surgery. Assoc Prof Morrey is also skilled in the provision of medicolegal assessments and reports.

Upon graduating from the University of Queensland, Assoc Prof Morrey commenced specialist training at several leading hospitals within Queensland. He also undertook further specialist orthopaedic training in Bristol, UK and Lecco, Italy. Assoc Prof Morrey is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He was President of
the Australian Orthopaedic Association 2022-2023 and has served on several committees at the AOA.

Assoc Prof Morrey has a long association working as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Cairns Private and Cairns Hospitals and has held an appointment as Director of Medical Services at the Cairns Private Hospital from 2022 to 2025. He is currently the Director of Orthopaedics at the Cairns Hospital. Additionally, he has been a co-director of a busy orthopaedic practice for over 20 years. With a commitment to medical education and as an advocate for regional health care, Assoc Prof Morrey teaches and trains students and registrars and shows younger doctors the benefits of working in regional areas. He is an Associate Professor at James Cook University, as well as an Examiner for RACS.
